Treatment overview

A non-surgical facial tightening and lifting treatment

It’s one of a kind facial laser treatment that targets muscles and skin simultaneously to tighten, lift, and tone the face and helps restore the facial contours all without pain, downtime or the use of needles.
EMFACE™ uses Synchronized RF  and HIFES™ technology.

Sync RF technology targets the skin by firming, lifting, and tightening it, and HIFES™ technology selectively targets muscles to increase the density and quality of their structure to restore their support of facial tissues and help create a lifting effect without the needles.

The clinical studies revealed that EMFACE™ treatment

  • Causes wrinkle reduction by 37%
  • Increase in muscle tone by 30%
  • Facial lifting effect by 22%

Treatment benefits

Non-invasive: EMFACE™ uses synchronized RF and HIFES™ technology, which means there are no needles or surgical incisions required. This makes it a safe and pain-free alternative to traditional surgical facelifts.

Tightens, lifts, and tones: The treatment targets both the muscles and skin simultaneously, resulting in a tightening, lifting, and toning effect on the face. This can help restore facial contours and give the appearance of a more youthful complexion.

Minimal downtime: Unlike traditional surgical facelifts, which require weeks of downtime, patients can resume their normal activities immediately after EMFACE™ treatment. This means minimal disruption to their daily routine.

Clinically proven results: Clinical studies have shown that EMFACE™ can cause wrinkle reduction by 37%, increase muscle tone by 30%, and provide a facial lifting effect by 22%. These results speak for themselves.

  • Who is a candidate for EMFACE™ treatment?

To determine whether this is the best treatment for you, it is advisable to schedule an in-person consultation with a board-certified doctor specialising in facial and body to discuss your concerns and to have your skin appropriately assessed.

  • How long is EMFACE™ treatment?

The treatment is only 20 minutes long and is super fast and comfortable.

  • How does EMFACE™ treatment feel?

It feels like a facial massage with gentle warming sensations and pulsations.

  • Does EMFACE™ treatment hurt?

Absolutely not. It is a rather relaxing, almost like a hot stone massage feeling.

  • When can I expect to see results after an EMFACE™ treatment?

The results vary individually. Some people may start noticing results as early as after the first treatment, but optimal results usually appear 8-12 weeks after the 4th session.

  • How many sessions of EMFACE™ do I need?

The protocol is in general about 4 sessions but more sessions can be added if desired.

  • Is there downtime after EMFACE™ treatment?

Absolutely no downtime because there are no needles here.

  • What are some of the contraindications to receiving EMFACE™ treatment?

    • Facial piercings in the areas of pad placement
    • Cheek implants
    • Forehead implants or metal plates
    • Facial tattoos in the areas of the pad placements
    • Presence of active skin infection or open wounds
    • Recent suntan or sunburn
    • Having active severe acne breakout

This is not a final list but a brief overview of the most commonly asked questions people may have

  • Can I get EMFACE™ treatment if I have dental implants?

    The general answer is Yes.

It should be safe as the Sync RF is a very superficial heating of the skin, and HIFES targets muscles and should not affect the bones of the mouth.

  • Can I have EMFACE™ treatment if I have Botox®/Dysport treatment?

It is always best to discuss any treatments you get done with your injecting provider. There is no contraindication in receiving EMFACE™ treatment if you have any neurotoxin in your face. It is best to wait at least 2 weeks after your injection to start any treatments to your face, including EMFACE™.

  • Can I have EMFACE™ treatment if I have cheek fillers?

It is best to ask your injector provider first. If it has been over 2 weeks since your injection, and there is no more tenderness or bruising at the site of the injection, then it should be fine. Clinical studies were not monitoring any potential effect on neurotoxins or fillers in the people receiving the treatment.

  • How to prepare for EMFACE™ treatment?

Please stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water to allow the Sync RF energy to flow easily, influencing skin tightening.

Please avoid taking NSAIDS, steroids topical or oral for at least 5 days prior to treatment.

Please come in without any lotions, creams, or makeup on the face.

Your face will be wiped with rubbing alcohol prior to the placement of the pads, but having clean skin will help expedite the placement by a lot.

  • What is the difference between EMFACE™ and Emsculpt Neo™?

They both combine the power of synchronized radio frequency and HIFEM technology to melt fat, tone, and tighten.

EMFACE™ is for the face and Emsculpt Neo™ is for the body.

  • Does EMFACE™ treatment really work?

This is the first of its kind technology to be utilised for facial aesthetics. The company applied proven and tested technology that revolutionised the body contouring market and designed a device to assist facial aging as well.  What is not to love when you can melt fat, slim, tone the face, and tighten the skin without downtime, pain, or needles?

    The excitement is very real.

Average prices paid for cosmetic and plastic surgery are different across Australia. Prices and Hospital Costs vary for plastic surgery as every patient has slightly different anatomy and varying surgical needs. Your Price for surgery depends mostly on which surgeon, which hospital, the type of prosthesis and how long the surgery will take. It will also vary based on eligibility for Medicare and whether you are insured or uninsured.

A fully personalised quote for your plastic surgery procedure is available when you come for a confidential consultation.

Your quote as part of a fully informed financial consent will outline your specific:

  • Surgeon Fee
  • Hospital Costs based on theatre time and length of hospital stay
  • Anaesthetists Fee
  • Assistants Fee (if applicable)
  • Prosthesis, Implant fee and post-operative garment fee (if applicable)
  • Any Medicare codes that may be applicable to your surgery

Many patients want to know if Medicare will cover plastic surgery. Medicare will cover what is deemed essential reconstructive surgery and procedures that have associated Medicare item numbers listed in the Medicare Benefits Schedule (MBS).

Dr Sorensen and his team can help you understand if Medicare may cover your procedure. However, if you wish to look up a particular type of surgery and its item numbers, refer to the Medicare Benefits Schedule.

Medicare will not cover cosmetic surgery procedures – like a cosmetic breast augmentation.

If you meet the strict criteria, you may be eligible for a Medicare item number Breast Surgery, Tummy Surgery, and post weight loss Excess Skin removal, amongst many other procedures.

You can undertake your surgery as a self-funded (uninsured) patient, or you may be covered by your Private Health Fund. There are many private health funds, some more generous than others.

Your Private Health Fund may partly contribute to the cost of your surgery. If you have a valid medical referral and meet the specific criteria for a Medicare Item Number.

You must also have the right LEVEL of insurance cover – Gold, Silver or Bronze – for the type of surgery you want. You may have to delay surgery after initially joining a health fund – typically, a 12-month waiting period needs to be served before you can have surgery.
If you have private health insurance, it is your responsibility to check your level of cover for this procedure. If you are not covered for the procedure, you will be responsible for hospital fees. Below are listed questions you should ask your health fund:

  • Am I covered for the Cairns Private Hospital or Cairns Day Surgery?
  • Am I covered for the item number(s) listed on my quote?
  • Will I be covered if this surgery is combined with a cosmetic procedure that does not have an item number?
  • Do I have an excess to pay when I go to hospital? if so, how much is it?

Nearly all plastic surgeons now charge a GAP fee on top of what Medicare and Private Health Funds are willing to contribute for your surgery. Medicare rebates have been fixed and have not increased for years. This has resulted in few, if any, NO GAP Plastic surgeons willing to charge the standard Medicare fee and health fund rebate.

You may be able to get early access to your Superannuation Fund to pay for your life-changing surgery.

This will most likely apply to Abdominoplasty (Tummy Tuck), Breast Reduction, Body Contouring, Arm lift, Nose Surgery or Skin Reduction after significant weight loss or Bariatric Surgery.

The Australian Tax Office (ATO) will assess your Early Super Fund Access application for medical procedures that treat life-threatening illnesses or chronic pain. The final decision, however, will be made by your own Super Fund, as some funds will not allow withdrawal. Find out more by visiting the ATO website or contacting Supercare.

No, you do not need a referral to see Dr Sorrel Sørensen for non-surgical treatments. As this is completely cosmetic, there are no Medicare rebates.
