Dr Sorrel Sørensen
Specialist General Practitioner and Cosmetic Physician
Dr Sorrel Sørensen graduated from Glasgow University, Scotland in 1998 and initially directed her training toward Ophthalmology, which she has continued to enjoy as a field of interest in General Practice. She completed the London Royal College Specialist examinations in General Practice in 2004, followed by diplomas in Family Planning and Reproductive Health Care and Obstetrics & Gynaecology. She took time out of General Practice and trained in hospice-based Palliative Care to further expand her experience in managing patients in the community and continued to work as a regular doctor in the Urgent Care General Practice setting in the local hospital.
For the final 3 years of her time in UK, she diverted most of her working week toward the secure environment and substance misuse management, completing the Postgraduate Certificates in this subspecialty. She worked across the range of Her Majesty’s high and medium security prisons in the North East of England.
Sorrel’s interest in aesthetics began during her Ophthalmology training, and over the next 15 years, she attended specialist courses and training in all aspects of facial rejuvenation and general aesthetics, including injectables, micro-sclerotherapy, microdermabrasion, medical grade micro-needling and threading. Her training also includes medical-grade chemical peels and laser; however, the FNQ sunshine does not lend itself to these facial treatments. She worked in one of the largest chains of skin clinics in Britain for several years and continued to combine this with General Practice in the community, prison service and Urgent Care setting.
Sorrel is keen on sport and represented Great Britain in the Junior World Rowing Championships in Barcelona in the 90’s and went on to compete for her university in both rowing and swimming. She met and married her husband, Dr Kristian Sørensen, while at University in Glasgow. They have two teenage children.
